Heron Hiding
Heron Hiding

There was not too much noticable life in my hike around the Granite Dells the other day but this heron caught my eye as I was driving out of the park. I used my normal modus operandi when seeing an animal and trying to photograph it. Step 1: If in car, roll the window down and take a quick shot. 2. Get out of car, not making much noise (no door slamming) and sneak around the back of the car. Take another shot. 3. Pause for a bit, giving the animal a chance to realize that you are not going to charge. 4. Inch closer and closer, taking shots and pausing every so often. 5. Watch animal run off. That always seems to happen!! 🙂 I guess the worse situation would be the animal running towards you….that would mean that YOU are the prey.
