“There’s an idea of the Plains as the middle of nowhere, something to be contemptuous of. But it’s really a heroic place.”~I Frazier
This was shot near The Vermilion Cliffs on the Hopi Reservation on my way to White Pocket. There were horses roaming around in another spot and had I been alone, I’d have stopped. The reservations here in N AZ are situated on some stunningly beautiful natural landscapes but usually far out from major towns and in places that seem almost uninhabitable due to the land’s ruggedness. Whether human or animal or plant, you have to be tough to survive in this heroic starkness.
