“No man ever caught the reins of a thought except as it galloped past him.”~O W Holmes, Jr.
There are 3 kinds of cowboys here in AZ. The first one is the agricultural ranch cowboy who maybe drives cattle or horses and is the typical cowboy of yore. The next one is the horse stable cowboy (like this man here), who most likely goes home to a family and maybe even has a home with an HOA fee. And lastly, we have cowboy re-enactors who get their kicks from playing cowboy. They can play pretty seriously and probably plunk down lots of cash to obtain their sometimes authentic outfits and I’m guessing they have fun doing so. I’ll shoot them all with no prejudices!
I find cowboys interesting, visually and psychologically. They are the epitome of the Marlboro man, a masculine persona of steadfast “strength”. Whether that is all true or not is debatable but it is the connotation behind the Western cowboy fantasy and we all can use a bit of fantasy once in a while!

You have captured what I consider to be the true essence of the Marlboro Man. Cool shot!
Thanks, Elisa!
